The closed cycle and return of secondary raw materials to production is one of the greatest challenges for all industries that process raw materials. This especially applies to the building industry, which consumes the largest quantities of mineral raw materials in Germany on the one hand and causes the largest stream of waste on the other. Ac- cording to the stone & earth industry [1], around 59.8 million tonnes of building rubble, 14.1 million tonnes of road construction rubble, 14.0 million tonnes of building site waste and 0.6 million tonnes of gypsum-based building waste were produced in 2018.
