Concrete is a versatile building material with a great diversity in possible mix compositions. In view of standards and regulations, and with regards to the available mix constituents, it is important to use mix designs adapted to the prevailing regional conditions and to take natural fluctuations in the properties of mix components into account. In fact, the challenge is to make already existing and established mix compositions more environmentally friendly. In particular, it is important to avoid unnecessarily high cement contents without impairing the concrete’s ability to meet performance requirements. Increasing costs for energy and CO2 certificates entice the industry to develop and use new and more sustainable types of concrete. However, the development and optimization of new concrete mixes is an often-repetitive manual process that can be very labor-intensive and time-consuming. To simplify this process, Mixteresting’s group of experts have developed a software that for the first time enables concrete technologists, concrete producers, and researchers in the concrete industry to develop new and more efficient concrete mix compositions virtually - and thus quickly and cost-effectively.
