For the production of concrete, it is of essential importance to know the moisture content of the raw materials. For example, when storing sand in a stockpile without a roof, large differences in moisture content in the raw material may result from weather conditions. The moisture content of the raw materials influences production in two ways. On the one hand, during weighing in the mixture ingredients, a strongly fluctuating moisture content can lead to different mixing ratios for each batch. On the other hand, the amount of water contained in the mixture must be as constant as possible in order to achieve the same working properties for each batch. This is very important, especially when several batches are required for the production of one building component.
