In April 2009, an internal decision was taken by Volkswagens AG to expand production at its location in Bratislava in Slovakia. The first vehicles from a new model series are to roll off the production line there in 2011 for delivery all over the world. This expansion includes an extension to Production Hall 2A, in which the painting work takes place. The tender documents and project documentation for building permission for Hall 2A were drawn up by the Slovakian general planners Coproject a.s. in August 2009. All bills of quantities were created in two languages, aided by the project and cost management software from RIB. Production Hall 2A is a four-storey building with main footprint dimensions of 251.0 m x 60.0 m, a square span grid of 12.0 m x 12.0 m and a construction height of approx. 24.0 m with a foundation depth of - 2.2 m. Fig. 1 shows a spatial visualisation of the hall.
