If one views the European market, most manufacturers of precast concrete elements restrict themselves to compliance with the approval requirements for a CE mark. This is a must in order to be competitive in Europe following the introduction of the new harmonised standard for precast concrete elements. In France however, CE-compliant manufacturing alone is not sufficient. The precast concrete element must be provided with the marking ‘Avis Technique’ (ATec), in order to be allowed to be sold on the market. The approval requirements here are stricter than those of the European standard. Production control and documentation in particular must be executed very elaborately and in great detail.
