Impact of advances in concrete technologyon heat treatment of precast concrete

Early age strength of concrete members

There have been significant changes in cement characteristics and major developments in concrete during the past decades that might have important effects on heat treatment of concretes. Results are presented of a specific Portland cement that might not respond beneficially to heat treatment. Advances in mix design, the significant role of chemical and mineral admixtures, field experiences associated with delayed ettringite formation and other durability-related problems pose challenges to heat treatment that could influence its future role.
