A concrete retaining wall had been planned for the railway station area in the town of Esslingen, directly in front of the historic town centre buildings. However, due to aesthetic considerations, it was intended that the concrete surface on the visible side should be implemented in a brickwork structure, so as not to disturb the historic town image with a smooth concrete surface.
