Glass fiber reinforced concrete, or GFRC as it is known on the American continent and GRC in the rest of the world, is based on an Alkali Resistant glass fiber reinforced mortar, or slurry formulation, rather than a conventional aggregate concrete mix. Typically, it has a sand: cementitious material ratio of 1:1 and does not contain any course aggregate. The cementitious material is either cement such as ordinary Portland or cement and pozzolan. In addition GFRC mixes often incorporate an acrylic copolymer curing admixture and other admixtures such as super-plasticizers, pump aids, set control agents, and self-compacting agents. Fig 1 shows a typical slurry mix formulation without fibers.
