Everyone producing concrete is now under environmental regulations to properly dispose of waste concrete. Additionally, reclaiming sand and aggregate from left-over batched concrete and/or equipment clean-up is a good business practice. Concrete Reclaimers have been in the marketplace for many years. Most are designed to quickly handle large quantities of waste concrete in ready-mix applications. Large, fast reclaimers are expensive, in both initial price and operational costs. These types of reclaimers are not necessary for concrete products produc tion facilities, such as precast, pipe and block. Ready-mix plants may need to wash-out 10-50 mixer trucks per day, and handle individual loads as large as 10 cubic yards [8m³] from any given mixer truck. By contrast, many precast plants wash-out at on average 3 to 10 cubic yards during the day. Up until now, Precasters had two options. Invest in a large, expensive ready-mix style reclaimer or washout on the ground and haul waste concrete off-site. Hauling waste concrete can be expensive, and may violate local environmental laws.
