Fitting a balustrade to the front face of a balcony or a flight of stairs is a fastening job with safety aspects that is to be found in practically every building. With balconies or stairways constructed in concrete, this work places particular demands on fastening devices as edge distances are very small due to the construction components’ slen-derness. In the case of fixing devices that are installed afterwards (dowels), these narrow edge distances give rise to a dramatic reduction in load-bearing capacities. A safe and permanent connection of the balustrade to the building is all too often neg-lected in normal construction practice.
