Concrete pump at minus 25 °C –Test in the cold chamber

Putzmeister Concrete Pumps GmbH, 72631 Aichtal, Germany

Putzmeister concrete pumps are tough. And their conditions of use are as varied as the climate: Extreme humidity, high dust levels in the air and external temperatures of +50 °C make high demands on the machines. And there are also the dynamic loads. Not only the drive motor and the cooling system are stressed, but also the steel structure, the hydraulic components and the electronics and controller. Where exactly is the limit of what is reasonable for jobs in the depths of winter, for example? To find this out, a series-produced BSF 20-4.09 H truck-mounted concrete pump was set up and operated for over 16 hours in the new climate wind tunnel in Vienna at minus 25 °C, and the measurements taken were documented. The climate wind tunnel in Vienna is operated by Rail Tec Arsenal (RAC), an independent research and testing institution. It is mainly railway carriages, trucks and busses, but also passenger cars and helicopters that are tested here for reliable operation in extreme climatic conditions, before series production is started.
