The construction industry is one of the most polluting industries, not only because of the gases produced during the manufacture of cement, but also because of the high amount of natural stone that is necessary for the manufacture of concrete. This is due to the enormous quantities of cementitious materials that are produced in line with the high demand for concrete products and structures. Geopolymers or alkali-activated materials have been shown to be a possible solution to reduce the environmental impact of construction products made of Portland cement. In this article, the results of the manufacturing of precast concrete pipes made with geopolymers as a cementitious material are presented.
