The global need for stormwater management has become an increasingly vital engineering design requirement due to the expansive worldwide growth of new developments and infrastructure. With larger impermeable surfaces and urban sprawl reaching further by the day, flooding, land erosion and scouring via stormwater surface runoff has become a prominent issue. Adequate stormwater drainage, containment and removal in urban centers can be inhibited by these impermeable surfaces which include roadways, sidewalks, parking lots and structures.
