With the fierce competition on the market for concrete products, the supply chain and stock level management is a crucial contributor to production profitability. Fewer and fewer companies decide to purchase moulds to keep them in stock; instead, they focus on a “just-in-time” strategy, where the mould delivery is synchronised with the launch of production of a particular concrete product. At the same time, every paving stone manufacturer that has experienced problems related to late delivery of moulds by their manufacturer knows that losses due to a contract loss, the need to pay contractual penalties or a loss of goodwill caused by the impossibility to supply the concrete products on time may exceed the value of the mould itself.
