Concrete producers are currently facing many challenges. In the future the demand for concrete elements will continue to rise and concrete must also meet ecological requirements in order to achieve the EU’s ambitious climate targets by 2050. Ultrasound-assisted concrete production has repeatedly proven to be a promising activation technology in laboratory and pilot plant studies in the past. Now it has also proven its industrial suitability with the first test run in the precast plant of Mattig & Lindner GmbH. The Sonocrete team is thus paving the way for a new activation technology that enables to produce low-CO2 concretes at high production rate. This study presents the results of the first factory test and discusses the next steps of development.
