Coloured glass fibre reinforced concrete panelsfor unusual building shells

Rieder Faserbeton Elemente, 83059 Kolbermoor, Germany

The material fibreC, which is also known as “concrete skin” and has won several international architecture awards, is a concrete panel reinforced with glass fibres that unites the advantages of concrete and glass fibres: it is not only as solid, formable and durable as concrete, it also captivates with thin walls, protection against fire and low density thanks to the glass fibres. Concrete skin makes it possible to construct thin elements that are nevertheless capable of bearing high loads. Due to its thin-walled characteristics, fibreC makes a valuable contribution to the new language of forms of modern building shells. The use of high quality raw materials made from pure mineral constituents and glass fibres enables optimum product quality to be achieved. State of the art production processes allow Rieder to accommodate the wishes of architects and designers more intensively in the manufacture of fibreC panels. The revolutionisation of the 2D and 3D production does away with spatial limits and offers a variety of forms that has never existed before in the field of concrete. The fulfilment of special colour requests and different surface treatments represents a further dimension. A wide range of natural shades of colour as well as sand-blasted or brushed surface structures underline the extraordinary appearance of glass fibre reinforced concrete. The production of coloured glass fibre reinforced concrete panels is backed by the Rieder company’s many years of experience, constant research and colouristic know-how.
