When it comes to automation, the precast concrete component manufacturing industry is lagging some way behind other production engineering sectors. Up to now, developers have focussed on sub-processes in precast factories; the results are in line with this approach – stand-alone solutions for e.g. projection lasers or formwork robots. In future, however, an integrated approach to all processes in a precast facility will at the end be required to achieve the leap forward in development needed to computer-controlled manufacturing. The article at hand will show the state of automation at individual production stages and additionally present an option for a new manufacturing process.
