The proportion of garden and landscape construction products with surface coatings has continuously increased in the past few years as the significance of the looks and cleanability of high-quality concrete products has increased. Appropriate coating systems can thus be used meaningfully amongst other things to reduce the water absorption of the product surfaces and thus to improve the soiling tendency and the cleanability of the products with respect to oils, greases, juices or wine. Apart from improving the soiling tendency and cleaning behaviour, the use of surface coatings also frequently results in a reduction in the efflorescence tendency of the products (see section 6 in [L1]).
