Keller HCW GmbH can look back on 125 years of experience in constructing machines and systems for the building materials industry. The company exploits synergies from its broadly diversified specialist areas gained through many years of expertise in the coarse ceramics industry to develop highly flexible, machine and robot supported systems for industrial handling and palletising processes. A tailor-made packaging unit with industrial robots was developed at Keller HCW for Birco GmbH from Baden-Baden, Germany. The engineers in Keller’s IMS business division were given the task of designing a system for concrete drainage channels, which were to be removed from an existing trans portation unit and subsequently stacked on pallets according to varying load patterns. At the end of the process, the packages are strapped, transferred to a forklift and placed into intermediate storage. Birco has made a significant investment for the future with this purchase and has gained both in flexibility and rapidity in its production process.
