Articles in this series addressing the issue of Industry 4.0 have shown how precast production facilities can draw step by step closer to the next stage of the industrial revolution. In this process, vision must always be measured against practical relevance and economic efficiency. A good example of a step in the direction of Industry 4.0 is the latest investment by Mischek in Gerasdorf near Vienna, Austria. The compa- ny has replaced pallet plotting by equipping six workstations with two laser projectors each. The changeover, in conjunction with work plans from the master computer, enables the production manager to plan his production processes very individually. In this way, Mischek can react more flexibly to changing market demands – one of the essential requirements of Industry 4.0.
