Mechanical Properties of Steel Fibre Reinforced Self-Compacting Concrete

Fibre orientation in elongated concrete elements

In this paper the basic effects of different concrete compositions and properties of steel fibres on fresh SCC mixtures and their mechanical properties are shown. The investigations presented can be used for the checking of the properties of fresh SCC with added steel fibres. The current state of knowledge is not yet adequate to be able to fully evaluate the rheological and mechanical properties of self-compacting concretes with added steel fibres. The results of this study show that the usage of steel fibres with an addition of superplasticiser brings about an improvement in the mechanical properties of the SCC. One must have very detailed knowledge in order to be able to understand the rheological properties of a steel fibre reinforced self-compacting concrete (SFRSCC) and to determine the optimum dosage of steel fibres for this special concrete.
