Brilliantly presented at a non-metro city, Jalandhar, and different to anything seen before in the area of concrete, this formidable international event, which, as one of the delegate remarked, has put Jalandhar and Ludhiana on the world map, was the second UKIERI Concrete Con­gress organised, in collaboration with the Institution of Civil Engineers UK, Indian Concrete Institute, Japan Concrete Institute and Institution of Structural Engineers UK, by the UKIERI Concrete Group, consisting of eight institutions from India and two from the UK, which came into being as their three year collaborative research project ‘Sustainable High Performance Concrete Infrastructure, funded by UK-India Education and Research Initiative Programme, under the leadership of Professor Ravindra K Dhir OBE, was completed in 2010, with first Congress held successfully in Delhi in 2011.
