The international concrete research community has developed an excellent network for joint research and development work. The key for successful implementation of innovative concrete technology is the communication between researchers and practitioners. In a series of three papers, CPI introduces the most influential international research organisations and gives an overview on latest issues and developments in concrete technology. Part 2 of the series concerns the activities of RILEM, the International Union of Testing and Research Laboratories for Materials and Structures. In the wide range of RILEM research activities, those most interesting for the concrete producing industry are discussed.
