For thousands of years the mighty River Nile has nurtured Egyptian civilisations, while always challenging the people’s ingenuity. As the demands of the country’s burgeoning population grow at an ever increasing rate, projects to harness the Nile waters for productive use continue. One of the current schemes is the New Naga Hammadi Barrage in Upper Egypt, which is being constructed with the involvement of specialist international companies from Egypt, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and South Africa. Supplying an important major component of the concrete is South Africa’s Ash Resources.
