Thermal insulation for prefabricatedbalcony slabs

Schöck Bauteile GmbH, 76534 Baden-Baden, Germany

The Schöck Isokorb is used as a load-bearing, insulating connecting element between concrete components such as balconies and floor slabs. Installation of balcony slabs without thermal separation from the heated building leads to typical thermal bridges with the familiar consequential damage such as condensation, mould growth, and ultimately increased heating energy consumption. The Isokorb avoids this weak point in the façade by combining a highly effective, CFC-free insulating layer made from rigid polystyrene foam in conjunction with stainless steel and a thrust bearing made from high-performance fine concrete for optimum thermal insulation.
