The floating specialists Clement Systems Gulf presented the the world’s first floating bridge of its type in Dubai. The German company was commissioned with both the design and the construction of the floating concrete road section, the ‘Innovative Traffic Congestion Alleviation Floating Bridge’, in Dubai. Clement used their patented technology for the construction, which allowed more than 19,000 tonnes of concrete and 1,500 tonnes of steel to be transformed into a 460 metre long floating concrete bridge over the Dubai Creek. The large project took 3.5 months to construct. The floating bridge over the Dubai Creek was opened by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum in a festive ceremony on 15th July 2007.
