The new state-of-the-art Moscow City has been under construction since the beginning of 2003. It is just a stone's throw from Red Square, directly next to the Moskva River. 15 tower blocks are being built on an area of approximately 100 hectares and will provide 2.5 million m2 floor space for offices, apartments, hotel accommodation and recreation areas. Particularly outstanding is the "Federation Tower" (Federazija) project. When the construction work is over, this will be the tallest building in Europe reaching 442 m high.
