During the last decade or so there has been a fundamental shift in the mindset of the Architectural Precast Industry in the United States and Canada regarding surface appearance of wall panels. Historically it was quite common for most, if not all, architectural wall panel manufacturers to produce pieces with face mixes containing mainly gray cement accented with colored exposed aggregate or colored sand. An outside the box face mix might include some percentage of white cement and very occasionally pigment might be used to create an appearance which was impossible to obtain using only combinations of cement, rock and sand.
