With the development and construction of reinforced concrete pressure pipes in a new dimension, Berding Beton GmbH, a member of the Professional Association for Concrete Pipes and Reinforced Concrete Pipes (Fachvereinigung Betonrohre und Stahlbetonrohre e.V. – FBS), has broken fresh ground in production technology: the pipes were used in the construction of a main cooling water pipeline in the brown coal power station in the Neurath area of Grevenbroich. The unique heavyweights had already passed the first baptism of fire with flying colours beforehand. Tests on a test rig specially designed for the new-type pipes showed that the bell and spigot joints and the entire system can withstand the required operating pressure of up to 4 bar without any problems, even under heavy load.
