Experience with the subsequent installationof connection fittings for concrete pipes

A report from the viewpoint of the awarding authority

The town of Kreuztal is located in the northern part of Siegerland in Germany between the towns of Olpe and Siegen with a direct connection to the A 45 and A 4 motorways. This low mountain region touching on the Rothaarsteig hiking trail is populated with about 33,000 inhabitants and is mainly known for its borough of Krombach, the home of the Krombach brewery. The Krombach brewery’s rise to pre-eminence as the largest private brewery in Germany entailed, on the one hand, the enlargement of one of Kreuztal’s two sewage treatment plants to the population equivalent of 170,000 and, on the other, the accruing waste water caused special demands to be placed in many respects on the public sewage system. The town’s sewage network comprises a length of approximately 240 km without house connections. The connection fittings and pipes up to the private property boundary still, however, belong to the public system.
