The “Guthirt” school centre in Zug, Switzerland, was to be expanded in order to create new capacities. The wish of the city authorities for an expansion of the primary school building and the construction of a new nursery was accompanied by a demand that the outdoor premises of the school that were widely used by the public in the Guthirt district should be retained as far as possible. As a solution, architect Peter Frei designed a modern school centre with slender concrete façade elements. The façade elements are reinforced with the Schöck ComBar glass fibre-reinforcement and thus offer an architecturally interesting, but at the same time durable and safe solution.
