Manufacturing methods for precast made from concrete and reinforced concrete pipes have improved considerably in the last few years. The drastic reduction in manufacturing costs stands vis-à-vis a continuous gain in quality. One prerequisite for producing pipe bends, with or without a manhole upper section, is the ability to sever pipes very accurately. Only in this way is it possible to join the individual parts together to form a pipe bend with a minimal joint gap. A very precise method of severing concrete and reinforced concrete pipes of all diameters was developed in practice by this report’s author in conjunction with Haas Maschinenbau GmbH in Oberkirch, Germany, and is described here in the following. The machines concerned have been in operation for many years.
