Self Compacting Concrete has gained wide acceptance since its development in the 1980s in Japan. Today, especially in the precast industry, it is an option for production managers who search for production costs savings and improvements of the quality of concrete structures at the same time. SCC utilization in the precast industry is nowadays common also in Italy, even if there is still room for growth to get to the same share of utilization of other European countries [1]. The utilization of SCC represents a technological innovation that involves both the material and casting procedure sides. As a matter of fact, to implement SCC in an industrial process requires a careful study of the mix formulation to achieve the desired technical properties but also a thorough evaluation of the mixing and pouring processes that are usually designed for lower (usually S5) consistency class concrete mixes [2].
