This present study addresses the problem of fibre distribution homogeneity in concrete elements. Earlier studies have shown that the size of an element does indeed have any influence on fibre alignment in the concrete mix. If the depth of a given element only insignificantly exceeds the lengths of fibres embedded in it, the overwhelming majority of these fibres will tend to orient themselves horizontally. The lack of fibre regularity and directional reorientation during technological processes causes difficulties as regards the expected random distribution in the concrete mix. Therefore, investigations of this randomness on workability and strength parameters were carried out for normal and self-compacting concretes. In this paper, an analysis is presented in which cross-sections of concrete beams featuring steel fibres are closely examined.
