What if CO2 could be stored in buildings and pavements?

Use of technical carbon for concrete production

A startup from Marienhafe in Germany came up with the question contained in the title of this publication and developed an additive that actively removes CO2 from the atmosphere. The additive is based on technical carbon and uses its properties to improve the functionality of the building materials. By applying negative emissions techno- logy, sustainable and durable carbon sinks are created in concrete and asphalt solutions. The use of the Clim@Add aggregate also makes it possible to save resource-intensive primary raw materials, such as cement. With the Carbon Storage Concrete (CarStorCon) technology, a concrete is created that is not only climate-positive but can also demonstrate improved material properties.
