Carbon Concrete Composite (C³ or carbon reinforced concrete) is a new approach substituting corrosion-sensitive steel with carbon, which has a high durability, which is lighter and possesses a higher tensile strength. Since carbon is resistant to corrosion the concrete cover of C³ components can be much thinner than with steel reinforced concrete without losing its durability or load-bearing capacity. This new approach results in a significant reduction in the use of raw materials.
