Not that long ago the Cypriot building industry had a very difficult period. The financial crisis hit the country very hard and the National Bank of Cyprus had to take extreme measurements to save the country financially, this is locally known as ‘the haircut’ where every company and individual lost a lot of money. The economy collapsed and Cyprus went in recession with hardly any building or construction activities at all. The country has slowly recovered from the crisis resulting in new developments and bigger infrastructural projects, which have been announced. Some of these projects have already started. Although the number of building projects has not come back to the level from before the crisis the contracting companies have also planned new investments. One of them is the Cyfield Group, who has decided to build a new block plant in Nicosia, the capital city of Cyprus.
