At a meeting with its employees, KRB, a U.S. based rebar cutting, bending and material handling manufacturer, has announced that their equipment has been selected for the current world’s largest construction project, the expansion of the Panama Canal. The project consists of the construction of a third wider lane, with two new sets of locks – one on the Pacific and one on the Atlantic side of the Canal. Each lock will have three chambers and each chamber will have three water reutilization basins. The locks and water basins are expected to contain 250,000 tons of reinforcing steel. The program also involves the widening and deepening of existing navigational channels in Gatun Lake and the deepening of Culebra Cut.
