Lütkenhaus has been producing precast concrete parts at its Dülmen site in Münsterland for many decades. Since the 1970s, freshly produced concrete floor slabs have been stored in an area warehouse, whereby only stacks of floor slabs are stored. Other concrete parts are temporarily stored in a high-bay warehouse specially developed for Lütkenhaus, which was built in the early 2000s. Lütkenhaus commissioned the German plant manufacturer Avermann and the Austrian company SAA, which was responsible for the process control and storage location logistics, with the conceptual planning and implementation of this storage location system, which was unique in the world at the time. After more than 20 years of continuous operation under demanding conditions, the central storage and retrieval machine (SRM), including the control system and safety technology, was modernised in 2024. As the previous solution had proved to be extremely functional and reliable, Lütkenhaus once again commissioned the companies Aver- mann and SAA – now RIB SAA – with the modernisation.
