Laird Brothers has been a family-run business since the Lochhead Quarry in Forfar was put into operation in 1958. Today, Laird is a thriving, fourth-generation independent company and one of the largest concrete manufacturers in Scotland. Laird continuously invests in the company, which gives them a decisive advantage in terms of product quality. In combination with the company's own aggregates, the expertise of the family and that of the employees, the aim is to offer customers the best value for money in every respect. To do this, the company relies on modern production facilities. In 2016, for example, a state-of-the-art plant for concrete products was put into operation, which included a block machine and extensive handling equipment from Rekers as well as a KBH Colorist and Dancing Weights antiquing machine (see article in CPI 3/2016). This plant is currently one of the most modern facilities of its kind in Northern Europe, with a production capacity of over 1 million m² per year. With the plant expansion to include further additional finishing and packaging options, the position as the manufacturer with the widest range of high-quality concrete products in Scotland is not only to be secured for the future, but also to be further expanded.
