Non-slip and cleanly sanded concrete surfaces. The Scan + Grind System at STS Fertigteile GmbH in Oberwang relies on the FerRobotics end-effector AAK 617 Concrete with Active Compliant Technology. The fully automated robot grinding application for concrete was implemented together with the system integrator accell GmbH and an ABB industrial robot. In order to obtain a special look or proven slip resistance class for exposed concrete surfaces, elements such as stairs, balconies or custom-made members have so far been treated by hand by experienced specialists, which has been painstaking and time-consuming. This strenuous and very dusty activity places enormous physical demands on workers, which makes it increasingly difficult to recruit staff for this type of work. The automation of the process successfully compensates for the shortage of workers.
