The contribution of differing concrete additives to strength development in normal concrete was determined within the scope of an experimental investigation. Fly ash, silica fume, blast furnace slag, metakaolin and rice husk ash were investigated, sometimes in combination, to this end. Concrete compressive strength was tested at a concrete age of 1, 3, 7 and 28 days. It could be demonstrated that metakaolin and rice husk ash – concrete additives which have hardly been utilised in Germany up to now – also make a considerable contribution to concrete strength development.
