A prediction about the future is often a risky undertaking. Nonetheless, this contribution will proffer some prognoses, especially in respect of residential and other building construction. The construction industry is changing only gradually and true revolutionaries rarely appear on the scene. This sector of industry is, in addition, strongly influenced by external societal factors. Some tendencies can be discerned already and will be described in this article, and possible approaches presented to dealing with them so as to be able to counteract any adverse effects.
