In articles of this “Digital Transformation” series, Unitechnik has been examining modern digital aids and investigating their applicability in producing precast concrete components. Everyone has been talking about “paperless offices” for 20 years now. It seems at least that a turning point has been reached. The quantity of paper is decreasing. In the manufacturing environment, however, the topic has been debated with somewhat less fervour. At the bottom line, the costs for a couple of sheets of paper are negligible in comparison with those of concrete, reinforcing steel and installation components. This article aims to discover if that is really true and what advantages might still be wrought by eliminating paper from production.
