With Germany’s decision to phase out nuclear energy, there is a growing need for intermediate storage, permanent disposal and dismantling solutions. Low and intermediate level radio-active waste (LAW and MAW), which has to be correctly packaged for transportation, intermediate storage and subsequent permanent disposal, was already generated during operational times but all the more now during decommissioning and dismantling. This waste represents an approximately 90% proportion of all radioactive waste in Germany.
