The use of concrete pumps in precast plants

Putzmeister Concrete Pumps GmbH, 72631 Aichtal, Germany

Pumping concrete in precast plants rather than conveying it to the formwork via buckets or bucket conveyors is still unusual, even though concrete pumps are used routinely on construction sites all over the world today. Using concrete pumps in precast plants offers many benefits. Unlike buckets, concrete pumps make it possible to continuously pour concrete into the formwork. In addition, formwork geometries that were unavailable with conventional methods can now be filled. In combination with self-compacting concrete and a filling of the formwork from below, concrete pumps can show off all their strengths and achieve very high component quality. Surface shrinkage is minimised and the continuous filling results in the different concrete batches being mixed and the concrete quality being homogenised.
