The A5 motorway, the main north-south link for long distance traffic in South-West Germany and the transit route to southern Europe, is being widened to six lanes between the junctions of Baden-Baden and Offenburg. Continually increasing traffic volumes in recent years, particularly due to the single European market, necessitate this comprehensive expansion project of more than 41 kilometres of motorway.
