Steel reinforced precast concrete elements are in equal measure inexpensive and durable as well as advantageous in all sorts of ways in structural physics. Yet structures made with steel reinforced precast can only be as good as their worst detail – and this is quite often the connections. Besides delays during construction work, these so-called “wet connections” generate problems especially in very low or very high ambient temperatures. “Dry connections” often feature very low admissible tolerances, poor force transmission and unnecessary complexity.
