Many of Alberta’s cities are growing in population, and the city of Red Deer is no exception. Due to provincial legislation requiring that fire crews respond to 90 percent of all emergencies within 10 minutes (90 percent of the time), Red Deer had to have a new fire station built. The city secured the services of Group2 Architecture Interior Design Ltd. Group2 is an Alberta firm with studios in Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, and Red Deer. The firm was tasked with designing a municipal building that would satisfy the demands of the growing area, while being energy efficient and require low maintenance – and they did not disappoint!
