Articles in this series about Industry 4.0 have shown how precast production facilities can draw step by step closer to the next stage of the industrial revolution. In this process, vision must always be measured against practical relevance and economic efficiency. This report sheds light on how an operator can benefit from the simulation and emulation of a production system. Firstly, the principles of simulation, emulation and modelling will be described. Emulation, as an integral component of the new UniCAM.10 master computer, opens up completely new opportunities for optimising production to a facility operator. This includes the topics of cycle time homogenisation, planning security and controlling instruments. The report at hand will demonstrate both the opportunities and the limitations of this digital technology.
